ABOUT ME

Sarah Kowalski is a writer, painter, and teacher based in Philadelphia, PA. Her studies of yoga, Buddhism, and creative practice have always been motivated by a deep hunger to wrestle with life's deepest questions:

what is it to be alive inside a human mind?

what is it to be alive inside a human body?

how to we make meaning out of chaos?

how do we grow, evolve, and heal, amidst so much crisis?

Sarah views artistic practice and embodied inquiry as tools to hone our capacity to view our lives and our selves as a process, not a destination; to build courage and authenticity; to deepen connection to self and other; and to continually compost the raw material of our lives into a path of growth.

She offers yoga classes, private lessons, creative midwifery services, and Entering the Cave: Sacred Practice for Artists workshops as laboratories to explore how movement, breath, and creative practice can reveal us to ourselves as we evolve.

Testimonials

"The way Sarah teaches yoga is unlike anything I have experienced in the past. Her breadth of knowledge in meditation and multiple yoga techniques allows her to really understand what is needed on an individual level as well as for a whole class. She asks questions, explains why we are doing each pose (physically and emotionally), and is able to intuit exactly what I need from each session. I feel safe to really breathe into my body and allow emotions to surface. I don't know that I can go to any other teacher now!"

-Amber, yoga student

"It was such a gift to be held in this space. A deeply nurturing practice, a highly intuitive teacher, a stellar community of creatives/truth-seekers/kind & kindred people. I’m filled up and my body feels amazing."

-Kate, Entering the Cave participant

"You struck such a beautiful balance of stories and topics simple enough to be mantras, but complex enough to have great depth. For that reason, I expect I'll carry all of them with me. The yoga was delicious. I felt great during and after--and it was interesting to experience the way in which I felt opened up to creativity in a different way after the yoga. Things came up in the writing exercises that I have never written about before. I love the way you get us into poses differently than any other yoga teacher. It feels inherently creative and full of surprise!"

-Monica, Entering the Cave participant

"This was the most loving practice I think I've ever experienced. It felt like it was less of an object, and more of a vessel."
